Ross Poldarks House - St Breward
Article from The Express
BROODING ON BODMIN
Whenever Ross saddles up his horse and gallops to his uncle's house to stare wistfully at his lost love Elizabeth, he's actually riding across the heath-clad plains of Bodmin Moor, a wild corner of Cornwall dotted with spectacular Iron Age standing stones. The villages of Minions and St Breward both feature; an old farmhouse in St Breward became Ross Poldark's home, Nampara, while the ageing, stone-built cottages in Minions were the perfect choice for the homes of Ross's tenants.
Both are sleepy, unspoilt hamlets with only a handful of cottages apiece, although St Breward is also home to the popular Old Inn Pub.
Hallagenna Riding (01208 851500/hallagenna.co.uk) offers Poldark Trail rides, which take in many of the locations.
